State of the term

Submitted by Simon on Fri, 05/18/2007 - 6:54pm

Aaron Street has this at Prawfsblawg, summarizing Schriro v. Landrigan and the state of the term generally ("[t]he Court managed to produce just a single opinion from its two-week recess, leaving half of its docket still pending as the Term heads into its final 6 weeks"). "Four cases remain from the December sitting, most notably the school-racial-integration duo ... [and there's] [j]ust 2 opinions left from January [sitting] ... with only Scalia and Souter left to write." SCOTUSblog has more state-of-the-term tracking here. The case I'm most interested in seeing - and hope we get next week - is Ledbetter, which I wrote about in comments here.

ADDED: looks like the 7th Cir's ruling on Indiana's voter ID law, Crawford v. Marion County Election Bd. will be appealed to SCOTUS after rehearing en banc was denied. I'll be in Indianapolis tommorow, so I might have more to add about this later depending on who's at the meeting.

Added: SCOTUS docket page for Crawford here.
