Hey, gang! Sorry for the long posting hiatus, but life has just been busy, you know? But I wanted to share the very exciting news with all of you... my new iPhone 4 arrived just an hour ago! I've got to wait 15 more minutes for the AT&T activation process, and then I will make my first call.
It's really cool looking, I must say. I'm very excited.
Consider this an open thread to express your envy or to discuss your favorite smart phones or other electronic gadgets. ;-)
I'm still disappointed that
I'm still disappointed that it is AT&T wireless only. This is the only reason that keeps me from buying one. [Yes, I know I can get a hacked one that can run on other networks but it is not worth the hassle.]So I will stick with my HTC Touch Pro 2 for a while. Waiting to see if Droid is a long term option vs iPhone. However, as long as I can do email, weather radar and google maps, I really don't need a ton of apps. I still like my laptop. Have not found a phone yet that can run GIS software. ;)
I think they're supposed to add Verizon service soon, aren't
they? I'll consider getting one once that happens.
Yes, Pat, I'm sufficiently jealous. :-)
Everything I have ready is
Everything I have ready is that the exclusivity lasts until 2012. That's at least one more cell phone away for me since I replaced mine last year and will probably be on target to replace late 2011. So have to see if it will happen in early 2012 or late.
Hi Pat
I won't buy AT&T (long story).....I hope you find the service okay. I just bought a new phone today and decided to stick with just a phone and not a PDA because I would like to spend the extra cash on wireless 4G card for my laptop. I'm just so tired of looking at a phone to see the internet. I get unlimited email, text and calls for under $75 a month from Verizon,,,,my wife wants an IPHONE though, so I will be asking how you like it.
Question. Is it safe to assume Bobby doesn't say a word here about McChrystal because he is not allowed to? I was hoping to ask him some questions and get his spin on things (Afghanistan, Turkey etc,) and he seldom posts. Is he reachable? Actually, I was rather surprised not to see this story here....
On the same page there, Max. I was curious as to Bobby's
thoughts also, being in the field, but I guess you're right--maybe he's not allowed to at this point. Different question for any law ninjas around here--Does Petraeus as CENTCOM commander have authority to direct events in Afghnaistan, that is before he's formally confirmed in his new post? I mean, I'm sure there was already a command structure in place anyway, assuming the decision for McChrystal's replacement took longer, but I was just wondering.
Hey Raf.....MJT would be a
Hey Raf.....MJT would be a great interviewer for Booby as I suspect they share similar political sentiments. If there was a topic Bobby could enlighten us on, it is the mess we are seeing now. Yon was all over McChrystal. Not sure how Booby feels about him....
Here is a good thread from MJT on the subject and will remind you all of how lucky you are I save my ranting for other sites....lol
The FrontPage has a great article on the Petraeus move no matter the spin. I hope all take a look
Here is that link by itself: http://frontpagemag.com/2010/06/24/petraeus-to-the-rescue/print/
Well, to let let the cat out of the bag, I agree with Michael
completely--McChrystal had to go. Besides the disrespect to the civilian leadership that his comments showed, the larger issue was the inability of the C-in-C to have complete faith in his commanding general's commitment to the mission. Petraeus has proven himself as a the man when it comes to successful COIN in Iraq, and he has the President's full confidence. Not sure if it's his best decision of all time, but certainly one of his best, and one that he showed real command on--the issue came up, and in less than two days, the switch was made.
Yes, I agree too, but for
Yes, I agree too, but for slightly different reasons. The various links however point to the underlying problems. The FrontPage article points to new problems....
